What MetzREM do
Taking key data such as occupancy levels, existing construction materials, building orientation, mechnical and electrical plant specifications, existing energy consumption (through bills and tariff settings) MetzREM will collate a database related to the existing building. Allied with a basic survey or existing available building plans, a digital model of the existing buildings will be produced. From this model, utilising Rapid Energy Modelling software and all available data, a thermal analysis of the building will be produced; this immediately identifies shortfalls of the existing building and potential cost savings through the application of a range of 135 refurbishment options ranging from minor capital cost solutions to major refurbishment options.
The model can be run any number of times identifying comparable costs of alternative refurbishment options therefore offering a range of cost based solutions from which the client can choose the most implementable solution to suit their timescale, budget and practicalitites of working on an occupied site.
Such proposals can then be taken forward to form a Scope of Work toward eventually informing a works contract to implement the REM solutions.
The major benefit of REM is the speed at which results can be achieved and proof of potential cost savings against capital costs of refurbishment can be demonstrated. We aim to offer clients a ‘shopping list’ of energy saving options which can be developed into real proposals with the results manifest in reduced running costs, greater occupancy comfort and increased longevity of existing building costs thus avoiding larger capital expenditure of new build.
