The Department of Energy and Climate Change has committed the UK to an 80% cut in carbon emissions by 2050 relative to 1990 levels. The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is a mandatory scheme aimed at improving energy efficiency in large public and private sector organisations and must be implemented through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 34% by 2020, and 80% by 2050. The most cost effective way to reduce emissions while increasing our energy security is to improve energy efficiency throughout the economy.

The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme was developed to drive energy efficiency covering both the business and the public sector. The scheme is estimated to save 11Megatonnes of CO2 between now and 2022. Further information can be obtained by following this link.

Rapid Energy Modelling is a low impact, low cost exercise which requires limited information about existing building stock to produce tangible results in a legible format. REM enables building users, landlords and owners to establish their principles to achieve these stringent CO2 reduction targets.

The outputs from a REM exercise can directly reference CO2 reduction – this is demonstrated on our website in a case study of a recent project.
