BIM Project Co-ordination
Metz can act as co-ordinators for the BIM process across a project’s life cycle. Amongst many tasks this would involve creating the Project BIM Strategy Document, this would include producing various protocol documents, of which, an important one being the communication specification. This document is produced as a result of a process which involves auditing all project stakeholders, assessing the data exchange requirements and then setting down clear procedures to ensure project data is published in the right format at the right time.
Delivering functionality from Structured Data
We can look at your legacy in house data and flat systems and advise on how to leverage functionality from these (for design for manufacture or e-procurement for example) or update them to futurproof against new developments in data technology and the manipulation of data across the scores of construction industry software and FM packages that IFC enables.
Project Models
We can create BIM models from existing 2D design information for use in your current or future projects.
Digital Surveys & modeling of existing buildings and sites
We can provide you with point cloud laser survey data of an existing site or building then develop this into project BIM models for use in refurbishment or extension works or for use in connection with facilities management systems.
Building Design Audits, Analysis & Simulation
We can create project model s for you, or use your existing models, to carry out design reviews with the client & end users to ensure they are getting the best design possible. These models can also be exported to various programs to analyse the design in terms of sustainability potential, day lighting, thermal & acoustic performance, people traffic movements including scenario planning.
Project Planning & Sequencing
We can create a project model, or if you already have one, use your existing model and link it to your project programme to provide construction sequence visualisations (4D) to help you analyse the build process so you can be confident that any potential issues can be addressed before you even get onto site.
Quantity Estimating
From a BIM we can then extract accurate quantities from the model by linking the data to industry standard software which will produce cost data (5D) to provide estimates at any stage of a project.
QA & Clash Detection
We can audit your models for inaccuracies or bad modelling practises and rectify any issues found. The model can then be checked against all other supporting documentation e.g. project specification. We can run clash detection (hard & soft) on individual discipline models or federated models to ensure a design is co-ordinated before it gets on site.
Health & Safety Design Audits
We can bring all the separate discipline models together to create a federated model and then carry out health and safety reviews & training with your H&S team, on-site construction staff or even end users to ensure safe working methods are applied to your standards.
As built audits of recently completed projects
We can carry out ‘As Built’ surveys and identify any discrepancies with the existing project BIM models. This could also include the specification model to ascertain the quality of the build v’s what was intended at design stage.
